Runaway Creek is an important part of the Maya Forest Corridor, a stretch of habitat through Central Belize that has been threatened many times over the years with development, mining and other destruction.  Without protection of this land, the climate, the people of Belize and many endangered animals, such as the beloved jaguar, would continue to be negatively impacted. This week, the government of Belize took a big step agreeing  to officially protect this land! This was possible due to the support and persistence from many conservation groups and people including the Foundation for Wildlife Conservation, and is a huge win!
